We’re ready to move forward with our work on getting the Arboretum at Forest Park ready for our 2023 season and to advance its role in helping to teach folks about trees and forests.
Why not consider joining us as an ‘Arboretum Assistant and help us to tag trees, prune shrubs and ornamental plants and helping with educational events throughout the year.
We have two training sessions lined up for this Spring, which will get you up to speed on how you can join the tree tagging initiative, and learn a bit about tree identification along the way.
Session #1 – Tree Identification Skills Class

Join this FREE live, in-person workshop at Forest Park. You will learn tips & tricks to identifying a range of native and common tree species here in New England and in the Forest Park Arboretum. This course will help you get ready to help inventory and tag trees this summer in the Arboretum.
The session will include classroom and outdoor lab activities. Please plan to attend, no matter what your identification skills are since you can always learn a few new tips along the way.

Session #2 – Navigation, Mapping and ID Tagging of Trees

Plan to join this educational session that builds upon the Tree Identification Skills Class. This FREE live, in-person workshop at Forest Park will show you how to use your smartphone to locate trees in the Arboretum, record information about the trees and how to tag trees with identification labels. This course will introduce our new techniques for recording and archiving information on the trees, so please plan to attend even if you have helped tag trees in the past.
